There’s not much to tell, I came to monero like many others, attracted by the privacy and stay by the ease of use. Luckily the project is very well documented. The best start, as usually, is to check the project site (https://www.getmonero.org/)

I find the normal zaps (lightning) very useful as it is. At the moment I’m quite happy with nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg's UX on iOS , I also tried nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 and liked a lot.
One of the beauties of #monero is that owning a node is not as important as in #bitcoin. Of course is nice to have one. Mine is on a raspberry with #openBSD and works really well. Sometimes I do solo mining while synchronizing another one I have on the laptop
This node is REALLY interesting to me as it allows for mining alongside the node. Interesting concept. Drops in a bucket add up.
I have to say I never get anything doing solo mining. You can configure it to take only when the machine is at certain percent idle. Also to run only on battery, etc. But you can take it as a lottery while you help with the monero network doing it. Maybe you get better results mining in a pool (I also did) with xmrig
