It's not really a hard implementation choice tbh. If you want to legally participate in the European markets, you have to do what the people with monopoly on violence tell you to do. If you actually care about freedom of speech and the individual right to privacy and private conversations, you fight them with whatever you can. E.g. lawyers, open source software, etc. If everyone just opts out of their system with bitcoin and open source software, there's nothing more they can do other than throwing you in the gulag.

Not hard choice in an ethical sense ( the lawmakers do not seem concerned with ethics ). I meant as a technical choice to do it client side...seems difficult. BUt i guess if everyone is already using one of two app stores...you just have two clients to gatekeep to catch 95% in the net.
