Wasabi filling out the 4x4 bed and in full bloom on the north side of the house. It is very light shy, thriving in full shade and very well suited to western Oregon. All parts are edible, and the flowers are super aromatic. It may also be useful as a pest deterrent (as a companion or as a green manure/mulch), since it produces volatile isothiocyanates, which are used as a biofumigant. This plot was divided and planted last year from a single plant purchased from @onegreenworld #eutremajaponicum #wasabi #isothiocyanates #urbangardening #oregongrown
