When I was a kid I’d go visit my grandparents in the summertime.

My grandfather was a regular guy, not rich or famous. Just small town Americana at its finest.

He quit smoking cigarettes when I was born so he could be around to watch me grow up.

Everywhere we went in the small midwestern town my family is from everyone knew him and they all had stories about him.

I would always stay up late and sit beside him at his desk and ask to hear stories from world war 2.

I thought he was the coolest person in the world. A living legend.

Im attempting to live my life in a way that my grandsons will feel the same about me.

When things get hard i just think “this will be a good story to tell them some day”.
