Is it better than Signal? I meant in terms of UX and security features, I know that Signal requires phone number.
I felt the UX was decent. It has some quirky features like secret messages, markdown and Live messages. Apart from that it has most other stuff that Signal has except the stories (if you use that) and payments. Messages aren’t delayed to send or receive unlike session which is onion routed.
How do you find other users and friends with no identifying info
It works on the concept of sharing invite links/QR code to scan SimpleX addresses. In a group you can find and directly message other users.
I clicked the link and it opened the app, but didn’t see any pop up for connecting with you or your group.

It’s a DM app that seems to be an improvement on Signal and Session. So far I’ve found it has some bugs but lots of potential to be pretty great.
