That's kind of what it sounds like. It's a stay on and be part of the reformed government workforce or quit and you still get paid for a few months or something.

In all honesty almost the only job Federal Government is suppose to do is security of the nation. Anything else is federal bloat.
It's easy for the public to see when so many "work" from home. I mean, how essential can they really be?
Blech I dont want to get into specifcs to much but over all I agree with you.
Although specifically speaking, my friend's job is actually fairly important.
We would be far better off if we replaced them with automation and paid them a 5 year unconditional full-pay severance as a downsizing strategy than keep the zombified mess we are living with today.
