Which core developers were big blockers? Genuinely curious
There were a bunch but I can only think of a couple of the top of my head -Gavin Andresen and Mike Hearn

Not sure. What I’m trying to say is this isn’t the first time core has twisted node runners’ wrists. They are backing node runners into a corner and trying to assert dominance.
