OK, I am really stuck and will put up a 90,000 sats bounty for anyone who can help.

I have an Umbrel and am trying to self-host my own Lightning Network wallet that I can zap to/from on Nostr using my own vanity address. via NWC.

Feels like when I get one thing going, I break another thing...right now I'm having a hard time generating the Pay Links on LNBits.

If anyone can help me get this setup, I'll zap you 90K sats.

My only hard requirement is that I want to do this synchronously, so you'd need to be willing to hop on a Zoom-type session. Also I'm English-speaking, so kindly ask you be fluent in English. 😃

Even if this isn't something you can't do, would kindly appreciate any reposts for reach. 🙏

I've been using alby hub for zapping, and it has been working great. I think it can be installed as an app on umbrel

Yes, it can. I couldn’t tell from the docs if they support vanity addresses…maybe that is a route I should go if it does.

They do not. But you can use http redirects to accomplish this. I do.

I thought about this, but I think if I zap out it’d show an Alby address on the other end and not my vanity one?

Similar trouble. Tried setting up alby hub on my umbrel to solve this but ended up losing 20k sats in the process. Will get back to it later and try again. Hope you figure it out

Thanks for sharing! So it seems the Alby Hub route is self-sovereign on an Umbrel? And if I were to zap someone it would show my vanity lightning address (not Alby)?

Your Lightning address is not included in the data when you send a zap and somebody can zap either your vanity address or alby address.

If they zap your vanity address, it simply routes to your alby address (forwarded).

Addresses are routing information.

I initially started with Alby, and it was pretty straightforward. However, after a while, my channel got closed due to some power issues on the server, and I ended up losing a few sats. 😅I’ve just set up a wallet on Primal and transferred a few sats via LN — it was by far the easiest setup so far.

fyi. in closing channels you don’t loose sats.

there might be only a fee for onchain transactions but nothing is lost

Yep. lost the channel opening fees but not the sats sent to the channel afterward (those return after ~2w)
