My typical design process:

1. Make something decent looking

2. Realize you have to add a bunch more stuff to it

3. Re-do the whole thing accommodating that other stuff

4. Realize it's getting ugly

5. Try to make it nice again

6. Realize there's a lot more stuff to add

7. Try to add that stuff without butchering the overall design system
