Mutual friends from our church introduced me to the boy's family. His folks are awesome; they had been searching for someone like me as a mentor. Very admirably, the parents take the young man to seminars and maker spaces, and do much to encourage him and his two younger siblings. They also pay me a modest amount to "hang out" with the boy a few hours a week and work on projects of interest. For example, we're building a solar furnace to smelt pewter, which he will cast into small jewelry pieces for his mom and his sister.💎😇

I've orange-pilled the family, and helped the boy and his dad build a nostr:npub17tyke9lkgxd98ruyeul6wt3pj3s9uxzgp9hxu5tsenjmweue6sqq4y3mgl. I made sure they worked through downloading and verifying the SeedSigner software themselves. I'm also teaching the boy some basic engineering principles and software design constructs.

My granddaughter is in her junior year at university pursuing computer science. The project we're collaborating on is a unique invention in the automotive space. It addresses safety and driver comfort in a way never seen before.

We're sourcing a combination of new and surplus parts to devise and experiment with a working prototype at the lowest possible out-of-pocket cost, which we're sharing 50-50. Our deal is that she does all the work, while I armchair supervise and direct her...🤣 You see, I bring decades of skill and experience to the table, and she brings energy and youthful enthusiasm (some days). Seems like a reasonable arrangement to me!😜😂

She is a smart cookie, and she realizes that a record of good initiative in a practical enterprise will serve her well as she looks for opportunities in the real world. And, who knows? If we succeed beyond our wildest dreams, she may not have to go looking for a job.😆
