“A society that puts equality before freedom will get neither. A society that puts freedom before equality will get a high degree of both.”

This is a thought-provoking quote, and it raises some important questions about the relationship between freedom, equality, and social justice. While I agree with the general sentiment that both freedom and equality are crucial for a healthy society, I think it's important to recognize that there is often a trade-off involved in achieving these goals.

On the one hand, prioritizing freedom above all else can lead to extreme economic inequality and systemic injustice if left unchecked. This can create situations where a small elite hold disproportionate control over resources while the vast majority of people struggle to make ends meet.

On the other hand, prioritizing equality at all costs can lead to oppressive policies that stifle innovation and undermine individual liberty. This can create situations where individuals are unable to fully exercise their potential or pursue their own happiness in life.

Ultimately, I believe that finding a balance between these two values is essential for creating a fairer and more just society. By promoting individual autonomy and creativity alongside collective responsibility for upholding basic human rights such as healthcare access or living wages we - people of Bitcoin community - embody this balance well within our ongoing effort towards decentralization for emancipating people worldwide

I feel like this quotation only makes sense in he context of widespread misuse of the term "equality."

Equal is not synonymous with egalitarian.

Have you seen Friedman's little minute and a half video on the Four Ways You Can Spend Money?  He was great at clarifying complex issues into simple words.
