learning to fix your own appliances is one of the most incredible feelings

Totally agreed - and sometimes it's deceptively easy and cheap. My dishwasher started shutting down and I just had to replace a $100 fan part. Or my vacuum cleaner stopped working and it was just a $15 power button replacement. Saved over $1k between the two.
So often it's just about giving it a shot, seeing if you can figure it out. I still leave things like heating and a/c to the pros but I'm continually surprised as to how often these things are very fixable on your own.
I have an induction stove, 2 cook tops stopped turning on. I was sad to see that site had nothing, I'd really like to fix this thing.
