BitTorrent is also a coin. Bad example.
Nostr the protocol is free. Expecting every damn thing built using the protocol to also be free is just commie bullshit.

I thought you might bring up how BitTorrent ended up being made into a coin, that's why I also mentioned limewire/FrostWire
And if you'll point out how nobody uses those or anything like them anymore, that's because there's soulseek which is centralized but has run with no ads and very little censorship for years and sucked up all the oxygen in the piracy software sphere - again, without throwing money around or having users who aren't "cheap"
Indeed not everything on the protocol is free, but so far the only thing on the protocol that I've been willing to pay for is nip05.social's email service which the goal is still to migrate away from because it's still email (which seems to be what makes it cost money)
If you're frustrated because you want relay subscriptions to grow into a way to monetize your git project:
I can see you making a lot of well-deserved money by ending up with an ecosystem where free storage is unlimited, but too slow for serious projects, with paid relays having more bandwidth and/or lower proof of work requirements for big data transfers.
Nah, relays are only a running cost to us.
We aren't going to run relays. We're happily renting them all.
We want to rent from specialists, tho, otherwise we're stuck doing the work and it's a lot of work!
Running a relay for commercial customers is not a joke, fr. Yes, that'll cost money. No, we don't mind paying. Yes, that's why relay development will increasingly cater to people like us.
We actually pay. We are Class A customers. And we treat relay operators well because we need them and take them seriously as essential suppliers.
Our customers are not the people who don't pay for relays.
News flash:
They usually don't pay for clients, either.
Just not understanding - you seem frustrated, and it seems like you wish I would pay for relays. Correct me if I'm wrong (if it matters).
If you're simply annoyed I keep starting arguments about capitalism with you, I apologize, you know us commies.
I don't expect you to pay for anything. 😂
You do you.
Say that again with a Monero address and see what happens 😤
Where do I get one? 🤔
I recommend Monerujo for Android or the official Monero GUI wallet for other systems
In the future I'll recommend Garnet for Android which automatically attaches a wallet to your nostr profile the first time you load it up, but it can't be installed alongside Amethyst yet and at v0.2.0 I only feel comfortable recommending the stagenet (play coins for testing) version
