Yeah, I mean don't get me wrong I hate all states but let's be honest states are an extension of The People/Nation at hand.
States histrocially existed as tool to maintain social order for the Nation, however the modern democratic state removes that as its no longer obligated to the nation but rather voters, or corporations, etc., the vote is what matters, in The United States, Democracy has failed because The United States is multiple nations conflicting for power, and control, The African Nation, The Asian Nation, The Hispanic Nation, The White Nation, etc.
The parties are representing of The Founding stock (Europeans), and Foreign Minorities who simply live in The United States, that being said as Hispanics become more integrated into American society they have become more republican because now they have a stake in The Nation.
Now, one can argue for individualism, and perhaps there's a real possibility for a nation of individuals to exist but there has to be a coherent unifying culture, the United States has no unifying culture that addresses this divide.
Until then every group is simply looking out for its own best interest, and will extract, manipulate, and control other groups to their advantage.
