This is exactly where I’m headed . The quicker this happens the better. I’m in the process of identifying land. Any tips? What part of the world are you in?
I’m in US Zone 7b. Best advice I can give is don’t let fear of perfection get in the way making progress, any progress, towards the goal. Start small, see what works, don’t fight what doesn’t, add when it’s feasible, and don’t complicate simple things.

Do you have a commercial set-up or are you doing this for self-sustainability purposes?
How big is the land you are working on and how many of each animal do you have?

Honestly.. I’m relieved for the sincere interaction.
Food security and isolation were our main goals but we do provide for local sales of goats (6), ducks (15), chickens (30), rabbits (too many), and compositing worms (2 bins). Along with animal sales.. we also do eggs, honey (3 hives), plants, and worm castings.
We just relocated to 42 acres. Working on infrastructure for pigs and cattle this year. Will keep numbers low. No more than 4 each for slaughter each year.
I’m sure I’ve left out loads. Just coming in from the heat.

Not yet. In my mind it will always be a work in progress. The home is on 3 acres of white oak. The farm/orchard is on about 6 acres. There’s 9 acres of forest with a creek and the rest is open field.
