the fretless bass is feeling like a pretty chill instrument to play so far. it's a perfect fit for all the jazz and swing classics like Fly Me To The Moon.

compared to a regular bass or guitar, you're playing more by feel. and there is no such thing as fingering the wrong fret. if you only get it approximately right, you just slide to bend the note where you want it.

and fretless basses are almost per definition supposed to sound a little bit out of tune, because it adds warmth. it's like a voice humming to the tune. sings more than a regular bass.

also the simplest instrument ever to bring with you to a gig, because you just plug it straight into the mixing desk. no fancy amp needed. the sound is supposed to be clean.
