That is usually media server dependent. (Most of) the clients just yeet the media at them (Blossom, NIP-96, etc) and the media server decides whether to compress or resize. That’s why some hosts offer paid plans that include larger / uncompressed uploading.

Actually. It's both. Some clients run everything through their own image proxy service.

I need to stop learning things so I’m not tempted to make my own clients. Stop touching my stuff reeeee! 😅 (But also 👀 as I’m in the middle of making my own Kind20 client…)
