Air travel was so much better.
Back when you could bring a water bottle with you on the plane.
Damn this note makes me feel old tho
as somebody that’s uneducated, how different was it? 🤔
80s America was pretty awesome despite having to endure weekly air raid drills at school.
How old you were then also matters. I didn’t experience much as I was young and poor, but eager to explore the world. By the time I could, things pivoted hard because of this.
oh 1000%. definitely different if you experienced it as a child or an adult/teenager imo.
unrelated, but loads of sauce magazine things happening near me! thought of you!
I hit send before reading part 2. Hah! That’s great. Think Harvest Fest is soon.
yes!! i’m so excited. living so close to tower grove is a dream come true.
i wish you could attend with the family and we could meet <3 one day my friend.
Sounds nice! Maybe next time we pass thru we will try to meet up. As long as nostr:npub16u83hjjrpgs43u8yez93tzhp3mllaz536smwm0hwy7k09kgp9n6sul9zf8 agrees 😂
Besides changes in air travel there wasn’t this massive shift in daily life from before and after 9/11. I was in high school when it happened and was appalled by how little my classmates cared or had any concept how it could affect them.
I think this is true in terms of what you actually see, but it’s probably not true in terms of the amount of data surveillance that occurs behind the scenes. Of course that was going to happen to an extent anyway with the expansion of the internet and advertising
I was speaking only of my lived personal experience.

I actually don’t think that the degree of surveillance on our own citizens would have happened or been possible without 9/11. I’m curious what nostr:npub1sn0wdenkukak0d9dfczzeacvhkrgz92ak56egt7vdgzn8pv2wfqqhrjdv9 thinks. He’s likely been asked this before. So if anyone has a link to an article etc where he’s answered this, I’d appreciate it.
