It blows my fucking mind how some people are so bad with finances. I know someone who is almost topped out at what they can make at their job and they would receive a 6 figure pension for the rest of their life (with annual cost of living increases) and they can’t afford to retire…

My dad only taught me one worthwhile thing as a kid, the importance of saving me than you spend. I've kept that going my entire life and I've been successful.
Had a friend though who owned a bar, he was earning at least 10-12 × my income, but blew it all. When the bar went under he was immediately broke and is living with his mum at nearly 50.
