I have been running multiple bitcoin related servers for years and even I think self-hosted LN nodes are not worth the hassle.
I cpuld manage a simple LN node with a couple of large channels to some well connected nodes but even that runs the risk of causing issues and needing too much of my attention.

lightning from day one was always a scam to enable rent-seeking from centralized lightning companies who should not even exist. this is the entire reason why they now want ossification. they want to continue the gravy train.
