Today at the conference "Efficient State - Partner of the Crypto Industry" in the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. It's refreshing to see how crypto is gradually making its way into the agendas of top politicians, and discussions are opening up that focus on solving the real problems of Czech crypto companies. We don't want much from the state - just equal conditions like other industries have and a legislative framework that defines clear rules and their enforceability. This is just the beginning and a symbolic first step - but I believe it's in the right direction 💪
Discussion
So now cryptocurrency has begun to slowly enter the field of vision of more people.
Opulent settings indeed.
Anything interesting happend there?
I'm always very caucious about helping the state to "understand" a technology. It often ends with "oh there is this other thing that we could regulate/restrict/capture/monitor, thanks for giving us more power over y'all".
A nice example would be a digitalization of the state. At first it looks like a good idea, who would like to deal with paper forms etc. But then you realize you're giving the govt/beraucrats more power in many ways.
Yes, lot of interesting discussions took place. Politicians understand that crypto is here to stay. Due to MiCa regulation they have to discuss this topic anyway.
As we are living in legal state and not in anarchy. It is naive to think that state would not regulate this industry. It will happen no matter what we want. What we can do about it is to make sure that state regulates and provides legal frameworks which doesn’t harm the industry in Czech Republic. Also regulation is necessary for mass adoption. This step will be appreciated by many traditional institutions which are keen to enter this business but were hesitant due to its blurry legal lines. As it clarifies - they will enter over time and bring masses with them 🙂
Thanks for the report.
