is there a tv that’s not an absolute shitshow?

As in - i have to enter all of my personal data and give it access to my network?

what’s the solution?

Is that how it is now? I don't have a "smart" tv

Pihole

i’ll never pull this off

It is truly super super easy to setup!

1) 1 command installs pihole on your raspberry pi

2) grab the IP address and plug it into your routers DNS setting

I'm so spoiled now. Anytime I'm on a network without one I'm shocked by how shitty the experience is. Ad popups in apps, cluttered webpages, slower load times etc. it's a game changer

hmmm… i wonder if bitcoin node companies should have this as an option.

and are there any downsides?

does it affect the functionality of anything?

Every now and then it might block something it shouldn't. But there is a web app that makes it really easy to whitelist things quickly or disable blocking temporarily.

I use Apple TVs for this reason. I let the TVs themselves remain ‘dumb’ and connect the Apple TV to the guest network.

My rationale is apple has my info from the phones/laptops so this is one fewer new party I have to give data to.

Crazy alien here….. no 📺?
