We have higher adoption than then now imho
I think mainstream adoption is like the year of Linux desktop meme. It never "technically" happens, meanwhile the whole world is reshaped around it by server-side Linux. I think plenty of adoption is happening, it's just not super flashy

Also a sizable % of global population is completely ignorant of money, economics, computers, and security. Bitcoin is counterintuitive to just about everything most people have been taught. Its gonna take people awhile
Its an uphill battle. Its certainly a first of its kind project that had existed at this scale. I'm amazed at how far its come, with such under-resourced developers, and the future potential
