I dont see any updates to these except for the build plate (gold flat magnetic plate piece on the moving bed)

May I recommend you go and run Klipper on this to 2x your print speed & 10x your print quality

You are correct on the assembly; those "sync" the dual z-axis' together and you did it correctly
