What the Signal chat showed me is that all government communications should include a journalist that will release things as soon as possible.

Absolutely.. I don't know why is such a big deal .. mistakes happen... And may be it was totally intentional ..

Because some almost got jailed for less? And self destructive messages wipe any traces. Who are these people, fed gov or a bunch of mobsters that avoid responsibility for their actions?

Who got jailed ? ..

Mistakes can get people killed. That's why it's a big deal. We should always learn from mistakes and improve the processes that failed.

Yes .. absolutely..mistakes can get people killed .. try not to make mistakes.. but they still happen .. even on best engineered things .. like rockets ..

I'm not interested in the political angle of this story, but I nerd out on the cybersecurity.

The act of sending military strategy to a journalist who responsibly disclosed the leak is not that big a deal. It's a UX problem for Signal. I have made the same mistake. In fact, on that same day, I thougt I sent a private message in a group chat, but I sent it to my wife. It wasn't a big deal, She's in the group chat I meant to send the message to anyway, but it means Signal is not suitable for tin-foil hat level security.

I would never send two multi-signature bitcoin keys with Signal because of this UX, zero day exploits, etc.

I assume all Internet connected devices are pwned. This is basic stuff nostr:nprofile1qqsw3znfr6vdnxrujezjrhlkqqjlvpcqx79ys7gcph9mkjjsy7zsgygpzpmhxue69uh5ummnw3ezuamfdejsz9thwden5te0v4jx2m3wdehhxarj9ekxzmnymlvvup

Incessantly talks about.

Signal sucks .. they should have used whatsapp :-) (: - 😕 .

I actually think they should encrypt everything with PGPnon an airgapped device before they send it on any communications channel. If they did that, they can post it on Instagram for all I care.

Well, maybe not Instagram because it's centralized. Nostr is way better. 😁

I like this idea, but does someone check their phones for Pegasus every day? What if there's a zero-day exploit?

These are the same reasons I would never keep my life savings on a phone wallet. It seems as if the same is true when talking about war-time communication.

As far as I know, Signal did not solve the Byzantine General's problem. Am I incorrect?
