Replying to Avatar Digital Panhandler

If I was to install Bitcoin Knots app does it download the block chain all over regardless if I have Bitcoin core already? #asknostr

By default, yes. There *may* be a way to get it to use the existing data, but I would expect it to take some configuration.

I’ve never run knots, this is just my best guess having run Bitcoin Core nodes before.

I tried installing it and it seems it does download the blockchain again going by my memory filling up.

Yeah, that’s expected. It would take some special configuration to get it to see and use the old data.
