Hey smart ones! Give me a reason why I should only use 6-7 relays instead of 30+? #asknostr

Battery life
How so?
Connecting to more relays increases your network usage linearly. That also uses more battery life because itβs doing more encryption. Imagine if your phone were connecting to 30 twitters simultaneously for a single app and sending your tweets to every single one of them. Same thing here.
Faster loading times in your client, over 20 relays the lag sets in big time.
I've got 13 and Amathyst is very snappy π€
Do you have any concrete evidence or documentation to back up that claim? I am using #Snort #Iris #HablaNews #Nostrudel clients, with over 30+ relays, and I don't notice any loading time difference. It's snappy. I assume clients will fetch the notes from the fastest relays first, so even if you have a lot of them (and slow ones), it won't affect anything.
No it's just my experience, I used to have 25+ relays and my #Amethist was very laggy. Then i saw a note by nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424 recomending <20 relays and it was loading snappy again. Can't find the note anymore so maybe ask Derek for details, he's more of an expert than me π
