There are a lot of things you don't know. You're choosing to protect your ego instead of embracing the unknown.

I understand, I get it, the ego is a powerful force inside each of us.

Right now, understanding VPNs or Knots is a less important lesson than trying to understand yourself and understanding your own weaknesses or vulnerabilities.

I appreciate you are struggling with this, we've all gone through this journey at some stage. Bitcoin and self sovereignty was the catalyst that allowed me to be free of my ego and any dependance on any third party.
