GM Nostr and Happy New Year. When my sons asked me what I wanted for Christmas I asked for a day without electronics. Yesterday we turned our phones off from sunrise to sunset. I can’t remember when I’ve had a better day. Here they are learning how to process a pig I raised. My oldest son took the shot. His first time harvesting a large animal. Such a proud and peaceful day.

What a proud dad you must be! Good on you for teaching your sons these tremendously useful life skills. Btw, why dont you set up a wallet so we can zap you.

Teaching the next generation life skills that can never be learned except by doing them. These boys will never go hungry.

That’s awesome! I can’t get mine to come out and process a simple turkey with us. You are absolutely doing something right!

We put two in the freezer a few weeks ago. Well done!

This one was kind of small, but I wanted them to learn, and I saw a recipe for porchetta that I HAVE to try.

Use a young pig and cut a boneless loin chop then keep deboning to the end of the ribs, keeping the bacon attached. Lay the meat flat, season, roll it up fat side out, tie with string and cook low and slow. Finish hot to make bubbly, crunchy goodness on the outside.

Excellent, will try this. We have two ~70lb pigs now.

There isn’t a time

You can’t ever take back

Memories in stone
