Discussion
Have to say that’s poor javelin technique.
Its falmost for the first time I decided to throw it )
Will
Improve it )
Oh it’s you! Sorry, that was quite rude of me.
Its okay, I know I am quite bad at throwing things especially diskus, I just have a lot of fun throwing all these objects
So any advice is welcome )
I was quite into athletic field events when younger and javelin was my favourite (represented my local borough). Main thing I’d say is it looks like you don’t lead with the elbow just before whipping the release. Your arm is very straight throughout the throw. That’s going to damage your elbow in time. This video shows good technique:
Cooool story , what was your personal best?
Just shy of 60m - 59.37m - I was under 18 at the time though.
Woow 60 is a lot very cool
I want to have the ability to throw that much too
I used to throw a lot as a kid 🤣 - I reckon that helped a lot. Plus I played tennis. How long was your throw in the video?
Helped a lot with what?
I'm not sure how far I was trying to make my throw straight in the line,
I set the aim(a bottle) for about 35 meters away and threw javelin a bit further than the bottle so maybe 38-40 meters
I meant throwing stuff as a child helped me a lot with general technique and strength for the javelin (same with playing a lot of tennis, especially the serve). It meant that when I first picked up a javelin and threw it, it was a kind of natural action. My PE teachers noticed this and put me forward for competition. 40m is very good. You’d easily hit 60m with a run-up and just improving the crossover and delivery. 🙂
