The name of the virus is herpes simplex. Pronounced like sim-plex. The app should be pronounced Simple X. Yes the naming of the app is unfortunate. Supposedly it was pointed out to the creator and he was encouraged to find a different name but he chose to stick with SimpleX.
The app is still just a secure messaging app.
