Proof of work is the only way to make #nostr spam free .. The problem is most developers have their own #bots ..It is hard for them to let go ...

PoW is better than asking say ten sats per message .. for humans it is lot easier to spin their gpu but longer ..

But it needs not be mandatory ..all you need is give pow notes a higher wot rank .. thats it ..
