Brazilian politicians are just clueless boomers. I don't know what it's like in the States, but here it feels like your grandad is trying to stop you from using your phone by putting it on top of a cupboard.
On top of that, Brazilians are pretty savvy, and even with sky-high taxes (like Denmark levels, over 50%), tax evasion is also really high.
Casinos are wrecking government lotteries, stablecoins are dodging regulations, VPNs have skyrocketed after Alexandre de Moraes' Twitter crackdown, and Bitcoin is on the rise.
Brazil hasn't turned into just another failed state in Latin America because a lot of people are evading taxes. The more the government tries to impose something, the more the people learn to get around it.
Maybe that's why we haven't turned into Argentina or Venezuela; people are just used to hating politicians.
