Another discussion with my father about state and libertarism. In Germany we do have a very strict gun/weapons law. He thinks voting for afd will change everything and no one shall bear arms. We "just need to get all the filth out". Weapons are unnecessary and "affect killings in a family shall not happen" (because criminals getting guns anyway was not point enough...)

And Germany during the time he was young was good. So was the compulsory military service, needed because of the Russian and DDR threat. "this is not possible with free choice so you just have to".

The worst part is, I know how he thinks and I know once he let's go of the old habbits he would see it as clear as I do. I know it, he's my father, but the chicken coop with all the comforts and benefits of "custodial responsibily" the state resembles (that the state actually shits on, at every occasion) is just too nice.

Okay, in your 60s it's probably hard to let go and look at it from a different POV, but it's just frustrating to see freedom capable people praising the "chicken coop manager."
