Does the 500gb work for you?

Yes and honestly most of that drive is empty. Using less than 50GB I think and it only has stuff for lightning.

On Start9 if you have less than 1TB it prunes your node down to the last 0.5 GB of the blockchain. You still download the entire thing but it deletes the old blocks as it goes.

Ideally you would want a 2TB drive and have a full copy of the blockchain but for what we’re doing I don’t think it’s needed.

I researched full vs pruned nodes when I bought this and couldn’t find a good reason to not do it. Plus 2TB SSDs are expensive and this is my first lightning node so I didn’t want to spend the money.

Sir TJ is running the same setup

Any idea what the advantage of a full node is?

You have your own copy of the entire blockchain and you’re not relying on others when you need to interact with it.

I asked nostr:npub1yvscx9vrmpcmwcmydrm8lauqdpngum4ne8xmkgc2d4rcaxrx7tkswdwzdu about this when I was on BWB and neither one of us had a good answer.

Really it comes down to the price.

Can Start 9 be used to host your RSS feed or website?

Yeah this is the idea I put forward once, I Podcaster centric start9 thing.

Short answer is I think it's difficult to do anything not in the start9 "stores" with start9 atm.

a lot of future updates were discussed on this episode. It’s all 2 weeks TM but it’s something.

Yeah, I have a music side project branch that saves the files locally. I was thinking it would be cool to load MSP on your own Start9 and host all your album’s on your own machine

I don’t think so but it would be cool.

This is hosted on a start9 but that feature isn’t publicly available yet.

Everything on Start9 is TOR or . local right now.
