Some people say Nostr is an echo chamber.

But these are the things I LOVE to talk about.

And Bitcoiners are a pretty damn diverse group of folks.

“Echo chamber” is just an overused term meant to make the idea of community sound derogatory. People who use that term are typically close minded and trying to silence opinions they disagree with.

I’ve always thought of Reddit subs as echo chambers. Opposing opinions are quickly downvotes and swarmed. I don’t even bother going there. Every time I pop in just to check it’s all the same hivemind lazy thinking.

I just consider that to be a community convinced of what they choose to believe. Maybe they’re close minded, or maybe they’re just extremely zealous about their views and don’t believe they need to rehash those things again for themselves. Doesn’t make them right, per se, and it also doesn’t mean I need to join them or believe them. But they have a right to congregate and believe those things together. The term echo chamber is too often used to demonize people who choose the safety of associating with other people who hold similar views and values.

Seems like a useful term but can be used in bad faith.

Lots of those terms these days it seems 😂

Never did do much with reddit. Perhaps I didn't miss a thing.

I think Bitcoiners are one of the few communities who can argue the opposing views of Bitcoin better than those making the arguments because they’ve put in the required work vs shutting down the ideas. Bitcoin is a very open-minded community.

Opened Twitter the other day. The amount of takes that were downright deceptive was overwhelming. Wading through that crap used to be the norm.

Signal-to-noise ratio is SO much better here. 🤝

Lit AF.
