Is technology a layer 2 species that emerges after biological intelligence?

Sure feels like technology is adapting and evolving via the intelligent human organism in decentralized and unstoppable manner.

I really don’t think it’ll be another life form, as Rogan constantly touts. It’s definitely evolving in a decentralized way, but I don’t think it’s inevitable that we’ll build something more intelligent. We can’t even come to an agreement on what we believe intelligence or consciousness is, so the idea that we’ll accidentally stumble on it is silly to me. Maybe I’m wrong, but I just don’t see it.

I don’t mean true artificial intelligence or a road to that. I literally mean do you see technology as a separate species that is a second layer species dependent on biological intelligence?

Ohhh very interesting 🤔 I definitely think you could argue it’s a symbiotic relationship at this point. Whether or not that’s a good thing is another question 😅

I think it’s a net good but can definitely see the trajectory humans are on with tech become bad for many. Embedded computers. Sex bot. Robot slaves. WALL·E style effects on the humans who embrace the whole stack.

Ya absolutely. A good framing I heard on this recently - tool tech vs drool tech. Drool tech just tries to get you hooked and not thinking, where tools make our lives better. I refuse to contribute to drool tech in any way now.

Great phrasing. Drool tech 😂
