The pfaf.org database is extremely useful not just because of its size but also because of its search capability. They put just as much work into their search function as the database. This allows you to search for things like "All plants for USDA zone 5 that is used as animal fodder".

Wouldn't it be great to set up databases like this such that we can pay a few hundred sats per search?

I have a plant ID app that I use all the time. I would be happy to pay for it but don't want a subscription!

Completely agree. Told them about lightning and nostr too but they haven't even put the mainchain address on the donations page yet....
