Layers 2 and 3 will not save you if you do not understand Layer 1.

Someone else's node will not be your rock in interesting times.

Someone else's platform will not be your voice when you have something uncomfortable to say.

DIY or you're gonna wind up as the product they're commoditizing.

The most well-known and used Bitcoin layer 2 would be the Lightning Network. There are other "scaling solutions" like Liquid sidechain that have been described as Layer 2 or Layer 3. eCash mints would be another example of Layer 3.
