It's pretty simple to spin up. They have a Docker version, and if you want to have a little bit more of an involved setup, you can do it without Docker.
Some nodes, or at least start9, offer searx-ng as a package.
My biggest issue with searx is when I'm off my home network it is tor or back to google.
Second problem, since searx is a meta search and it is self hosted, all of the enabled search engines now get all of your queries and your IP. It does block their cookies and such at least.
You could always nginx back to it when you're off your network if you felt ok with exposing it
Yeah, that's fair. I'm not a really big fan of Cloudflare, but I do use them to hide my home IP I use nginx for the reverse proxy. I should just move it to one of my other servers though that's not at home.
What service from them do you use to hide your IP? Was it much of a pain in the ass?
