I ended up getting an SD card that was larger than the size of the one in my Pi and plugged it into a USB adapter and directly into the Pi. This was by far the “fastest” way to complete the backup. I then performed a full reinstall and restore to a new, larger, SD card to test the whole process and expand storage. I tried backups over the network to a share and they were so slow that I cancelled it.
