Seems like it'll have to be a free-only service for now if I'm interpreting it correctly - it seems like Lightning needs me to have a balance to be able to open a channel, and a channel needs to be open to receive through Lightning. Catch 22. I do have some bitcoin elsewhere but I don't want to send it on chain due to traceability concerns.

In a similar situation. Would like to learn of a way to get setup on lightning too!

A lot of people use a custodial lightning wallets like Wallet of Satoshi to send and receive sats. No need for channel management then.

That seems to be mobile only. I want to keep this desktop only, but I'll do some searching to see if I can find a suitable one. I don't like custodial stuff, but if I find one that supports on-chain transactions too, I can "bootstrap" the one I have.

I think I managed to get it working now, with Coinos. No idea if it's good or not, we'll see if and when someone zaps me some sats.

It still isn’t possible to zap you.

Thanks. I guess the address expires when I close the receive page, or it isn't the right format.

Try now, while I have it open

#[4] I think I got it now, seems like it was the "username", ElectronicsQuestions@coinos.io that should go into the lightning address field.
