„Enough“ privacy I was meaning to say. I lived in Zimbabwe a country that is ruled by a government that is detaining and killing people for their speech and opposition. I know about the dangers of having no privacy, I put myself in that danger. My lived experience from Zimbabwe is that self-custodial LN, Liquid and non KYC Bitcoin exchanged P2P is good enough (with BOLT12 privacy on LN will be increased). Monero has higher privacy that’s true, but you won’t find anyone accepting it or exchanging it to cash on the ground. And activists need the cash to be able to do their work.

Self-custodial LN is an oxymoron.

an LN channel is just a multisig transaction. either party can get their sats out, theres no reason that has to be custodial.

nostr:npub1l7a3c46glyl7fpmgkjfmgytmdfrhdh3552h83hanw0lg09z3q4sqzgdtjt that’s wrong.

Agree with nostr:npub1lxzaxzge0jq9u9cecucctdt5lslwgp7hcxmp2l0wn8r2ecjenwasu6svxa If you hold the seed the sats can be unilaterally cashed out to the blockchain.

Having to rely on multiple people for a transaction to go through? Sounds pretty custodial to me.
