I had no idea how easy it was to make tortillas! This is now a staple in our house (:

- 3 cups organic AP flour

- 1 tsp salt

- 1 tsp baking powder

- 1/3 cup of oil (I’ve done avocado oil, liquid beef tallow, and olive oil)

- 1 cup of warm water (I do 1/3 cup of hot water and the rest cold filtered water)

- mix all the dry ingredients

- create a well in the mixture and add the oil, mix, then add the water and mix

- transfer the dough ball on a clean, floured surface and knead for 2-3 minutes

- cut the dough into 16 sections, then form each into a ball and flatten slightly

- lay a DAMP tea towel over them for 1 hour (make sure it’s damp or your dough will dry out!!)

- sprinkle a little flour on each dough ball and roll them out very thin (I use an old water bottle for this step and it works fine!)

- heat a cast iron pan on medium heat and transfer heat each side until golden brown spots form (~1 minute for each side)

boom! You have fresh, seed oil free tortillas! they last about 5 days in a container (although ours are usually gone in 2 days)

Nice! I’ve made it without the baking powder. I did not notice a difference.

Lard is my fav for the fat.

I will definitely try it without baking powder next time! The simpler the better
