For all practical purposes it is a race. Genetic studies are pretty clear on the fact that they're all mongrels. It's like India - a mongrelized base population divided into castes and tribes.

Uruguay is not the same as Mexico. Argentina is not the same as Colombia. I'm "Hispanic". I'm also fully European.

I'm aware of that but to anyone who grew up in an Anglo-American background, they are all "the other" no matter which origin they come from.
