Growing up I'd frequent the "chinese market" - an outdoor market where mostly Chinese vendors sold their products that they imported from homeland. I recall walking through rows of cheap clothes, shoes and any type of imaginable junk. I thought... my god, there is so much garbage here... products mass produced, stinky of chemicals, polluting god knows how much and where... it just felt overwhelming. Then I realized this was just one place in one town and that it's happening at a global scale. I felt sorry for the planet right at that time, not realizing that the planet will be fine and that it's us, the stupid bastards who will pay for our ways.

Sadly not much has changed since my childhood. If anything, it got way worse. One look at the toy industry and you can see just how much landfill waste is generated every single day. Cheap plastic toys, mass produced, used for a week and discarded right into land fills. It's sad.

I'm hoping that on the bitcoin standard we can reduce useless garbage products and focus on meaningful ways to live.
