Do you ever experience boredom in your dreams?
Discussion
Sometimes, or sometimes something exciting is about to happen, but then I remember that it's just a dream then I'm unimpressed.
Yes, then either the dream ends or I wake up.
Can't say that I have chief, most times , a dream involves running away from something , or shagging . No real room for boredom in a dream like that .
I was just thinking that dreams are highly stimulant, and this may be one way to ascertain if in a dream (or a simulation?) or in the real world. Real world always has sporadic lulls.
Tell me if I'm wrong now , but I've heard that the "why" we dream , is harder to explain than the "how" we dream.
There are all sorts of theories about why , as you probably know , some are spiritual , some are more pragmatic, but one of the theories that always made the most sense to me , was that it was some sort of simulation , as you say , but a way of simulating a dangerous scenario that could potentially happen in real life , and that inside of this simulation , you brain sort of "war games" out these scenarios , and documents the results , so that if something were to happen in the real world , your brain would have already populated itself with data on how things might go , and what to do .
Well, I have dreams of places, before going there. I was amazed when discovered that I have dreamt of the place couple of days before.
The weirdest thing i ever dreamed of before properly learning it was a time i was very young. There was this group of old people yelling at me and a goat nearby. I was holding a long blade like a machete and they kept saying "sever the head". I think i was about 6 when this happened and I didnt know what sever meant but must have overheard it contextually at some point. I took the blade and managed to lop off the goats head. There was dark brown blood gushing out. Then i saw a willow tree and woke up.
I remember a dream that lasted a lifetime. It was definitely not boring though
Have you heard of that whole idea , how they know whether or not it's true is beyond me , that people dream in black and white ?
i dream in non vibrant colors.
Once I had a dream that started in manga black and white, then changed part way through to Hergé’s Tintin graphic vibrancy
Like washed out , faded kind of ?
Almost like full color but then covered by a filter that washes out. i can discern greens, yellows, even blues. But its more muted. Last time I had a vibrant color dream I was riding a bike on ramps in space or something. Black starry background and hopping up/down brightly lit ramps. Light fixtures are uncommon in my dreams, things are just lit or not. Also uncommon.. mirrors, glass, screens, reflective surfaces of any kind.
What dreams?
I know that you are probably joking , but I think that if you are not experiencing dreams, it is a sign that you aren't really getting a good quality of sleep .
I've heard as well that smoking marijuana excessively and regularly has some sort of blocking effect on dreaming .
Or is it the other way around ?
Something like that .
People who smoke, usually don't remember dreams.
I know I dream always, but not always remember. Is fases. Sometimes I remember during day, when something happens, or someone speaks something that makes me remember part of the dream.
Sometimes I have what I think is called sleep apnea. In my teens was more frequent.
I actually always slept very well all my life, rarely had any dreams.
I did several sleep studies and have a really high deep sleep ℅ (over 50 iirc). Dreaming usually occurs in REM phase, not deep sleep so that might explain why.
Maybe there's so other explanation like I don't have a soul or something else sadder.
Maybe you dream better when you're awake chief .
Set ant intention before sleeping, to remember. Try it. It might work...
Maybe you do not want to remember....? Or you have block rememberence somehow?
How can you fall asleep while thinking of an intention? Seems counter intuitive.
I need to shutdown all processes before powering off.
That is a good question. I don't recall ever....🤔
Either my dreams are a total "David Lynch" out of this world direction, either real fun, or suspense thriller psychological. Lol
I had a dream one time that I was having sex with a woman with down syndrome , and it was very unsettling .
I think it’s 100% action/thriller
I remember one, where a cyclop woman was going around bars, houses, shpps. Everyone running scared, me also. There was no doors, all open spaces.
Until she catch me, stood in front of me, and shot me in the head. I felt nothing. And woke soon after.
*Ciclop, had a skirt and a blouse....lol no shoes, 1 eye. Big
I was scared like hell....running like a crazy cocoroache....me and everyone. No doors, no protection.....
when I say I felt nothing, I mean I felt the bullet enter me, but felt no pain.
Your body releases powerful muscle relaxants in sleep , thats prob why you didnt feel it.
Normally pain is accompanied with a contraction of the muscles and well , there wasnt any , so your brain just skipped that part.
And you Vic? How are your dreams?
My dreams vary on topic. I did have one this past week where alien robots on very tall legs or something was invading and I was in a building with others trying to hide. Then there was a foil wrapped chocolate offered by the aliens. I was holding mine uncertain if it was safe. Others decided to eat theirs. Shortly after those that ate the chocolate were stabbed by the alien robot things and killed. I ran through parts of the building the robots couldnt fit into.
Interesting. Mine also, vary.
Yours remind me of one I had. There was something in my arm, looked like a small hang up, I tried to pull it out, many times without success. When I succeed, a camera., that loom like a mini TV with legs (Size of a box 15/10cm ), came out, from a 0.5cm hole, and start running. I could not grab it...lol...then I woke up...
Crazy shit...
