⚡️🌍🌊 NEWS - Generating a "starter pack" image using artificial intelligence consumes between 2 and 5 liters of water.

Around 700 million "starter pack" and "Studio Ghibli" images have already been created.

The calculation gives 1.4 to 3.5 billion liters of water for 700 million AI images (2-5 liters per image). The water for these images is equivalent to the daily consumption of 4.1 to 10.3 million people.

Guess what, consuming water conaumes water.

Carbon accounting all over again. The only thing that wouldn’t be highly subject to goofy BS would be scope 1, and most serious cooling systems are closed loop, so they don’t “consume” water, especially at the pace of 2-5 L/30seconds

another green party agenda

This reminds me of the whole “one bitcoin transaction uses up a whole pool of water.” Or that one generation of an image on midjourney uses that much too. So, something we seem to forget, it’s not like the water used to cool something off just disappears into nothingness… Evaporation doesn’t work that way. Articles like these just sound too convenient and simplistic to take seriously.

Everyone, stop doing things! Doing things requires other things, which means other things happen! Things should not happen!

Image what TikTok is using in water for all of those garbage videos. Bet it’s way way way more than these stupid AI starter packs.

Computers don't use water.

Except water cooling 😂

Hey man, I like your posts. But this is really stupid shit.

This isn't an anti AI campaign, it's just some information I've passed on that I find interesting.
