I’ve always been of the mind that #web3 was beyond vaporware, it was vacuumous, a meaningless expression to coin a new brand of monetizating everything on the Internet, in the cheapest way conceivable.

There is nothing wrong with #web2. The idea of any sort of web3 or #web4 or #web5 can only exist or propogate on the back of a successful and thriving web2.

It’s almost embarrassing how many people tried to fight tooth and nail for NFTs and the #metaverse that simply… moved onto the next grift.

Do I think #nostr or #BlueSky will create the foundation of whatever “web5” is supposed to be? Of course not.

As long as web2 works for 99% of the users of the Internet, and until it becomes nonfunctional, there will be no serious migration or adaptation of any web sequel.

The #web has embraced new protocol like #nostr and webassembly. It is not that vacuumous and meaningless expression.

No, not really. The web as a utility hasn’t changed

If one needs internet to connect to #nostr then thats web. If #nostr can be connected without the web that would be something else. The revolution of the #web would be webassembly because one does not need to have everything on the server.

Sure but would people use if the Internet in its current form exists?
