Friend of the family just told me her son passed all the requirements, signed the NDAs etc for US Army security clearance doing something with radio and helecopters, and his superiors told him he had to sell his #Bitcoin.

I'm trying to get more details about why. He said they didn't give him a reason. I will report back. Shocking/not shocking if true.

Wtaf?! Anyone have any insight on this?

helicopters are dangerous

cos they dont even have wings to glide

if there is a catastrophic failure they just drop out of the sky like a boulder

pls tell him to be careful if he plans to be in one

i do not know what be careful means

i guess make sure the helicopter is undergoing routine maintenance

Um no! I dont have any 😉

Apparently, there were thorough background checks and polygraph tests for his clearance.

im pretty sure polygraphs are very dated & proven not real

so now im pretty sure this is fanfiction

let me put it this way

i hope they dont

cos that would be embarrassing

Nope. They still Poly in the US govt for clearances.

This is standard.

Trust me when I say, they’re not full proof.

There are some restricted Cs...

- Crypto (held or invested)

- Cannabis (consumption or invested)

- Citizenship apart from the US (have to give up any dual citizenship)

- Currencies in foreign lands

- Controlling interest in Corporations in foreign lands

Some of this is allowed and just needs reported

Thank you 🫡

AFIK the requirement for a security clearance is that you are only allowed to buy crypto on US owned exchanges with KYC. I don't know why you would ever disclose owning bitcoin in an investigation though

Riight? I asked her to call him. He confirmed it.

I mean, I guess he could be lying or have misunderstood, but according to him it was a clear statement. He also doubled down on the fact they gave him no reason. I asked him to ask. Will report back when/if he gets back to me with the answer they give him. Wild if true.

Would be happy to chat with him. Sounds fishy. If he has a lot then it might make sense. GM's open

Lol. I nostr too much

Lol. I get it 🫡

TY Ikr?! I've been peppering both of them with questions all afternoon. Will report back when/if he gets a reason why.

For context. I was Naval Intel for 11yrs and worked in SOCOM for 5 of that. Set free in 2019. I strongly recommend against joining the military anymore.

nostr:npub1qktts9naunvjdwsktq5xjdhwh539xt4x0mqj4yxq0q9dvm03ljvs6sms0r is always down to provide perspective too.

It sounds like some clueless NCOs repeating a warped version of some other nonsense, and asserting it as some kind of regulation. It happens all the time.

When I was in the navy, our superiors told us not to trust crypto and even more relevant was a navy submarine officer who got caught selling submarine secrets for monero. Ever since, I bet any crypto holders raise a red flag because most people in crypto have a bone to pick with this fiat bullshit system

Ya, absolutely not. Non of the above reasons would make one want to work be a slave for the our (US) gooberment.

Sinking ship.
